Despite challenges like climate change and labor shortages, Nunes Coffee remains committed to quality, sustainability, and good agricultural practices. Their efforts nurture the land, protect local ecosystems, and support the well-being of employees and the surrounding community.

Meet the Producer

Gabriel and Laura Alves Nunes

Fazenda Salitre, originally Fazenda Chapada das Mangabeiras, was founded by the Nunes and Siqueira families, named for its high-altitude location and the Mangabeiras River. The 616-hectare farm, with 186 hectares of coffee, is now operated by Gabriel and Laura Alves Nunes alongside their parents, continuing a family tradition of excellence. Nunes Coffee has earned international recognition, including top awards in the 2017 Cup of Excellence, for its consistent, innovative, and socially responsible coffee production.

PROCESSING

Dry Natural Fermentation

Freshly harvested cherries are dried whole on a concrete patio for 10 to 12 days, being turned 3 to 4 times a day to ensure even drying and prevent uncontrolled fermentation before pulping.
